I have a 2005 F150 with a 5.4 and 117k miles. Transmission started hitting 4th gear hard while almost idling at 40 - 50 MPH. Goes away if I turn off OD.. Step 1 - Determine which transmission the truck has. Check the sticker on the driver's side door jamb to identify the truck's transmission. The transmission field is circled in the figure below. I have almost 92,000 miles on my 2019 2.7 L boost. Maybe this has always happened I and I have never noticed, but lately I get this weird hesitation going into fourth gear. Most of the time, if you give it enough gas, it goes from 1 to 3 to 5 if you're not pulling anything.
